FAQ
A few things to know about working with DayAssist.
DayAssist is built for small employers who want to manage their team’s planning, hours and compensation together. It supports both assigned shifts and open shifts that employees can claim.
Employees can specify a time window per day or mark themselves unavailable. The planner sees warnings for conflicting shifts and can still schedule an agreed exception. A day without a declaration is unspecified, not automatically unavailable.
Yes. Save shift templates, copy a week of assigned shifts or repeat a shift weekly for up to twelve weeks. Each occurrence can be edited separately. Week copies keep the employees and rate types; compensation is calculated for the new date. Unclaimed open shifts are not copied.
An employee can offer a shift from tomorrow onwards to a colleague. The colleague must accept and an owner or admin must approve before the assignment changes. Until then, the original employee remains scheduled. After approval, compensation is recalculated using the new employee’s rate. This transfers one shift rather than automatically exchanging two shifts.
Planned hours are the basis for compensation. Employees register their actual hours as a check. Differences appear on the dashboard so you can review them.
Yes. Owners and admins can record card tips, one-time bonuses and other extras per employee. These are included in the outstanding balance. Employees can view their own extras.
No. Payments are administrative records. After paying an employee yourself, you record the full payment through a date. DayAssist then shows what remains outstanding.
